This is it. During the weekend we had experienced some serious snowfalls in Bormio (Alta Valtellina, Italy) accompanied by severe temperatures. All the tourism operators have been whispering for the latest few hours but the overall impression is that winter over the Alps has finally come.
On November Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 an important low-pressure area hit our region revealing itself into snow (for the second time this fall) even at the lower altitudes.
In town, the snowfall turned mainly into rain while from 1,500 meters we looked at some intense snow action:
- Bormio (1,225 m): 01 cm
- Bormio 2000 (1,952 m): 20 cm
- Bormio 3000 (3,012): 60 cm
As usual, you can find all the information about the latest snowfall on our snow report.
Snowfalls in Bormio and more snow...
Our high hopes for this coming winter would have to come from those latest snowfalls but also from the temperatures which are slowly progressing to winter-like weather. The drop of the temperatures is essential for a scheduled snow making program on the ski area.
The snow guns, active since October 20 and the turned off due to the warm weather, have gotten back to work since a few days ago and today have started to fire even at lower altitudes, around 2,000 meters.
So envious towards those who are already skiing!
Today's conditions were great. And some people knew that and took advantage of it. A bunch of really lucky ski mountaineers tried the euphoria of attempting the first turns in powder snow. People got so jelous on social networks!
Ski slopes covered with snow and free ski pass! It can't get any better...
This coming winter is looking very interesting and much recommended for ski lovers. The winter season of Bormio Ski will officially start from December 3, 2016 and for the lucky ones who have already booked their snow holiday their ski pass will be free. The offer Skipass Free is going like hot cakes in this hours. You can still take advantage of it until the end of this month.
