Bormio, 03/31/2012 – Yesterday the World Cup athletes completed their four days of training here in Bormio to test the new materials of Nordica and Rossignol 2012/2013. Among them, coaches and brands the satisfation was big and the choice of Bormio fully paid off thanks to the great snow conditions and a finicky organization.
The skiers who showed up were Silvan Zurbriggen (Switzerland), Didier Defago (Switzerland), Matteo Marsaglia (Italy), Dominik Paris(Italy), Siegmar Klotz (Italy) and Peter Fill (Italy).
Those have trained on the Stelvio slope from La Rocca to Ciuk on a downhill and superG track similar to the one of the classic Alpine WC dowhnill that Bormio hosts every December 29th.
The organizer of the event: Massimo Rinaldi, logistics coordinator of FISI; it was his idea to bring the athletes to Bormio - "Starting from the next season 2012/2013 the sidecut of the skis will change and so it was necessary to make some tests of the new materials. The first contact with BormioSki dates back to mid February when I asked them the availability to offer a slope like the famous "Stelvio" which has World Cup features but with springtime snow.
Once I had their ok we immediately arranged for Bormio. In my opinion it was very important the safety management of the slope; we have installed 1,500 meters of B nets and other 200 of A nets. The companies which have participated to the tests have very much appreciated the ability of BormioSki to offer a World Cup slope at the end of May with springtime snow in perfect conditions".
In Bormio you can ski in spring too.
